Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and imaging (MRI) provide extraordinary opportunities to obtain information noninvasively within opaque media. While the extraordinary application of MRI for medical diagnosis is one of the most well known applications, the use of NMR/MRI to probe material structures and physical phenomena, such as diffusion and flow, is also unique and valuable. The capital costs of associated equipment and availability of experienced personnel are major obstacles to even greater widespread use of NMR/MRI.

Colorado State University created Rocky Mountain Magnetic Resonance (RMMR) to foster the development and application of NMR to a broad range of areas of great interest to science and society. The center represents all the major modalities of NMR: solid-state and high-resolution spectroscopy, and imaging (whole-body and materials). Faculty researchers and staff from Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and Radiological Health Services form the core personnel.

The program New Horizons in NMR will acquaint the University and community with new opportunities RMMR provides. RMMR will provide selected NMR services free of charge through our seed research program. We are also sponsoring a series of workshops about NMR principles and applications to promote community involvement.
